Srinagar, June 01 (KNS): Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Kashmir unit Monday expressed serious concern over the rising suicides in the valley and urged Luitenant Governor administration to depute naval officers at vital points across all Jhelum bridges in Srinagar.

While praising the bravery of Police and CRPF personnel at Badshah bridge on Sunday, Party’s Kashmir Media-Incharge and youth leader Manzoor Bhat said they saved the previous life of a woman who was attempting suicide.

"Following the back to back lockdowns in Kashmir from the past two years, youth are facing depression and anxiety but people have to stand strong during this difficult time," he said according to a statement issued to Kashmir news service (KNS).

Bhat appealed to the LG administration that special teams of naval officers should be deputed at vital bridges in Srinagar to save precious lives.

"It is a difficult time but we have not lost our hopes and stand strong during the pandemic," he said.

Bhat said presently administration is acting as a bridge between people and government but SDM Chadoora crossed all the limits while interacting with the party spokesperson.

"We had received a grievance regarding illegal construction of brick kiln in the area  but he did not take it matter seriously," he said

Bhat said there is a need for good officers who can bridge the connection between people and administration but not alienate them.

"Due to such acts of officers, it directly affects public image of LG Manoj Sinha and public governance. It discourages people from participation in democratic institutions," he said.

Bhat said that there are a number of public grievances that are pending for a long time and the general public is suffering badly due to the attitude of such irking bureaucrats.

"A common should not move from pillar to post. Basic issues should be resolved the ground level only," he said.

Bhat  appealed to the J&K Governor Manoj Sinha led administration and Chief Secretary to act tough against such officers who are hurdling developmental works in the Union Territory. (KNS)
