Srinagar, Feb 24 (KNS) ; National Conference MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Monday reiterated his party's demand for the return of power projects to Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as a "genuine" issue, while also raising concern over alleged adulteration of dates being sold in the market during Ramadan.

Talking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) MLA Sadiq said the restoration of rights over these projects is part of the party's declared vision.

"We have clearly stated in our manifesto that some power projects should be given back to Jammu and Kashmir. That is a genuine demand of ours and we will follow that demand," the MLA Zadibal said.

He acknowledged that while the administration is currently focused on various other issues, the transfer of power projects remains a critical matter for the region.

"We should get our rights back from these power projects. This is a genuine demand of everyone," he added.

On opposition

When asked about the performance of rival political parties, MLA Sadiq remarked that the primary role of the opposition is to counter the government.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHowever, he criticised them for resorting to personal attacks rather than focusing on substantive issues.

"Their only job is to speak the opposite. And when the opposition does personal attacks instead of issues, then you understand that the opposition has failed," the NC leader said.

On date adulteration

Responding to a query on the quality of essential items during the holy month, MLA Sadiq flagged the issue of alleged adulteration in dates being sold in the market.

"Everyone who is a Muslim first breaks their fast with dates. And if there is adulteration in this too, then I think it is wrong," he said.

Stating that those who engage in such practices have "forgotten humanity," he assured that he would take up the matter with the authorities to ensure action.

"I will talk to the minister after this. We will talk to the director here and try to pick up some samples and check them. And if they find any mistake, then they will get a severe punishment," Mr Sadiq added. (KNS)
