Srinagar, Feb 10 (KNS): While the undeclared curfew like restrictions continued to remain in force for the second consecutive day in Maisuma and in the historic Lal Chowk in summer capital of the state, Srinagar, the commercial hub here witnessed a massive traffic jam on Wednesday thereby leaving commuters to face tough time.
Police and paramilitary CRPF have been deployed in these areas erecting barricades at Regal Chowk, Clock Tower, Amira Kadal, Maisuma and several other junctions to thwart any possible protests.
Ever-lasting traffic jam was witnessed on Molana Azad Road as all the vehicles were diverted on the road after the closure of part of Residency Road between Regal Chowk and Amira Kadal.
A shopkeeper of the area while speaking to KNS said that they are facing immense hardships due to the undeclared curfew like restrictions in the area.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“With the undeclared restrictions on the road, our business is at halt,” he said.
Journalists travelling in their cars and other vehicles were also not allowed to cross these points where barricades were erected thereby hampering their duties.
A top police official told KNS that restrictions have been placed to thwart the protest march called by the separatist groups.
Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) had called for a peaceful protest march at Lal Chowk today to demand the mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru who were secretly executed and buried in New Delhi's Tihar jail. (KNS)
