Srinagar, Dec 15 (KNS): In the backdrop of the public jalsa call given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), the authorities on Friday imposed restrictions in Srinagar and Anantnag areas to thwart any possible protests today.
The restrictions were imposed in Srinagar areas falling under the jurisdiction of Six police Stations including Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar, MR Gunj, Safakadal, Maisuma and Kralkhud partially.
An official in the administration had told KNS that the restrictions will be imposed as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, the strict restrictions were also imposed in Anantnag areas today where the JRL is scheduled to hold a public jalsa today.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Altaf Khan had told KNS that in view of the JRL’s call, the restrictions will be imposed across the district to thwart any possible protest.
Earlier, the JRL had called for ‘Public Jalsa’ tomorrow at Anantnag.
The JRL comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had also asked the Government of India to allow the resistance leadership to hold public Jalsa if you believe in democracy. (KNS)
