Anantnag, Nov 28 (KNS): Senior National Conference Leader and Member of Legislative Council Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri on Monday said restoration of Pre-1953 position would help in finding a durable and acceptable solution to the vexed Kashmir issue.
According to a statement issued to KNS, addressing workers convention in Khanabal Anantnag, Dr Veeri said that four months long prevailing turmoil has vindicated the position of National Conference that restoration of greater autonomy is vital for the prevealing situation and will be durable and long lasting solution to Kashmir dispute.
He expressed deep concern over the loss of innocent lives across borders and Line of Control (LoC) during exchange of fire between Indo-Pak armies and said that nothing can be achieved resorting to mindless firing and provocation.
Veeri said that although Kashmir issue had several dimensions, but restoration of autonomy would provide people relief as autonomy was more relevant based on ground realities.
He urged Prime Minister Modi to adopt a realistic approach on the Kashmir issue by rejecting the hard-line stand.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel, Dr Veeri said lack of trust between India and Pakistan was the main reason for delay in moving ahead on the issue.
Lashing out at PDP-BJP government for ignoring the suffering of common Kashmiris, Dr Veeri said that Kashmir valley continues to remain in dark due to unscheduled power cuts. Veeri said that people are suffering due to shortage of non-availability of essentials.
He also condemned the arrest spree and harassment of respectable citizens of society including Imamas, Khateebs, innocent youths and other senior citizens. Veeri said that the ruling PDP has resorted to political vendetta by framing activists of National Conference and Jammat-e-Islami in baseless cases.
He demanded immediate release of innocent people imprisoned during last four months.
