Respect coalition partner’s aspirations or face trust deficit: G A Mir to NC

Srinagar, May 7 (KNS): Amid growing unease within the opposition alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, senior Congress leader and Dooru Shahabad MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday admonished his coalition partner, the National Conference (NC), asserting that the party must wholeheartedly respect the aspirations and concerns of the Congress.

Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), the senior Congress leader said that on all crucial public and political issues, the National Conference should take the Congress into confidence and ensure better coordination within the alliance.

He emphasised that mutual understanding and cooperation among coalition partners were non-negotiable for smooth governance and effective public welfare delivery.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“The National Conference cannot afford to ignore the voice of its alliance partner. Our concerns and aspirations must be respected wholeheartedly for the coalition to remain relevant and functional,” Mir told KNS.

When asked about possible consequences if the NC continues to overlook Congress’s concerns, Mir stopped short of issuing an ultimatum but reiterated that “governance and public interest suffer when partners are not taken into confidence.”

The remarks come amid growing perceptions within the Congress rank and file that the NC has been unilaterally steering key decisions without adequately consulting its partner. (KNS)
