Say forced to fetch drinking water from 5 km’s,

Srinagar, 02 Apr (KNS): Residents of Bhat Mohalla village of Karewa in Shopian district on Saturday complained about lack of drinking water for the last couple of weeks, while the concerned department is least bothered about their genuine demand. 

 
Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that inhabitants of Bhat Mohalla are facing acute water scarcity with many people drinking unhygienic water, which poses serious threat of water borne diseases.
 
They said that there is no drinking water in their village and they are being compelled to walk 5 kilometers everyday to fetch water and drink contaminated water which is unhygienic and health hazardous for them. 
 
Meanwhile, a local resident Fayaz Ahmed said that as Ramadan is approaching there is more consumption of water especially at Sehri and Iftar time. 
 
"It will be a hard task to keep fast without availability of drinking water. We have been moving from pillar to post to get this genuine demand redressed but every time our pleas fall to deaf ears,” he said.
 
The residents said that fi the issue is not addressed in a timely manner, they will hit roads. (KNS)
