Residents Demand Widening Of Hazratbal-Buchpora Road

Srinager, May 20(KNS): Hazratbal Buchpora Road in central Kashmir's Srinagar city continues to be a major concern for commuters and the general public, prompting residents to appeal to higher authorities for urgent action.

The locals said that the narrow road has been causing numerous problems, especially for students and the locals.

Given that the area houses several schools, the locals said that vehicular movement often comes to a standstill for hours, resulting in employees and students being stuck in traffic jams and reaching their destinations late.

Despite approaching the LG administration, divisional commissioner, and the Chief Engineer of R&B Department multiple times, residents' efforts to address the issue have proved futile.

The residents have been demanding the extension of the road from Hafiz Bagh to Habak for decades, emphasizing the urgent need for its implementation.

"As the UT prepares to host the G20 Summit in the upcoming days, the residents see this as an opportunity to draw attention to their long-pending demand on humanitarian grounds," they said, adding that they make a polite appeal to the G20 members, highlighting the importance of addressing this issue, which affects the daily lives of the local population.

"Total length of road is 5 to 7 kms. We want only 2 kms from Hafiz Bagh via Mala Bagh to Unani Hospital, Habak Chowk, Hazratbal. That means from Ellahi Bagh 90ft road to touching Habak Fore Shore Road and get rid of long pending demand," a local said.(KNS).
