Srinagar, Apr 22 (KNS): Young Men’s League Chairman Imtiyaz Reshi addressed Friday prayers at masjid Umer at Umerhare Soura.
While speaking in the colloquium Imtiyaz Reshi Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi has said that Kashmir is an internationally recognised dispute, which needs to be resolved as per relevant resolutions of the United Nations.
Reshi addressing a party function in Srinagar said that India had occupied the territory in violation of the international law and against this forcible occupation the United Nations had passed its first resolution on 13th August in 1948. The resolution advocates settlement of the dispute, he added.
The YML leader appealed to the UN to implement its resolutions on Kashmir and take cognizance of human rights violations by Indian troops and police personnel in the territory. He said that the Indian forces had, so far, killed thousands of innocent people in fake encounters in occupied Kashmir.
"Kashmir is the core issue between the two nuclear powers of the region. If the issue is not included in the agenda and there is no positive headway for its resolution, the talks are bound to fail,"Reshi alleged.
“Right from 1947, India has been trying to suppress the voice of Kashmiris by force. But neither they succeeded in the past, nor they would in future,” he added.
Reshi warned that New Delhi was pushing Kashmiris towards violent revolution. “Off late instead of making the atmosphere conducive for talks, troops have let loose a reign of terror across the State.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelIf immediate measures are not taken by the government of india, we can see resurgence of violence in Kashmir. It will be more violent and aggressive than we have seen in the past,” he said. Reiterating his demand for demilitarization, Reshi said, “Immediate and complete cessation of military and Para-military actions against the civilian population in Jammu Kashmir, withdrawal of military presence from the towns and villages, dismantling of bunkers, watchtowers and barricades, release of political prisoners and annulment of draconian laws are must for the protection of life and property of people.
He said, “International community has accepted the gravity and importance of Kashmir Issue and they know that peace will not prevail in South Asian region till Kashmir gets resolved peacefully.
Imtiyaz Reshi expressed serious concern over the ill-treatment meted out to jail detainees in Udamphur Jail and said, “Ill-Treatment to political prisoners is the blatant violation of international laws as jails are for the safeguard of prisoners.” Adding that world community especially human rights watch should take steps in this regard and also appealed Amnesty International to pressurize Indian Govremnet for the early release of Political prisoners lashing in different jails so that they can celebrate Eid with their families.
Meanwhile prayer session was also held at soura for the early recovery of Hurriyat Jk Convener Shabir Ahmad Dar. (KNS)
