Srinagar, Jan 26 (KNS): Due to bad weather, Ministers could not take part in the Republic day function in Kashmir. Divisional Commissioner Baseer Khan hoisted the flag in Srinagar; while as deputy commissioners attend the district level R-functions.
The ministers of the state who were scheduled to hoist the flags and take salute on R-day function failed to reach Valley due to the disruption of air as well as road traffic in the Valley.
The flag hoisting ceremony and parade took place amid tight security at Bakshi Stadium here.
Witnesses said that the smartly turned out contingents of police, paramilitary and school children marched inside the stadium covered with thick blanket of snow.

The officials informed KNS that the District magistrates in their respective districts hoisted the flag and took salute in the R-day functions.
Div Com while addressing a gathering in Bakshi Stadium thanked all the participants for their participation amid the heavy snowfall.
He also congratulated police and other security forces for playing their role for the peace and prosperity of the state.
Meanwhile Director General of Police (DGP), S P Vaid said, “The R-day functions held across the Valley passed off peacefully.”
DGP said, that the no untoward incident occurred at any place. “During the R-day functions held today, no untoward incident occurred in any district of the Valley. The day went incident free,” he said. (KNS)
