Srinagar, July 09 (KNS): As part of nationwide strike, J&K CITU was scheduled to hold one day peaceful protest on working class issues at Sher-i-Kashmir Park, Srinagar on 9th July, 2025 under proper permission from the district Administration Srinagar which was later on cancelled for reasons not known. The demand charter of the of the Trade Union includes: - Repeal of four new Labour Codes; end to contractualization and privatisation of public sector units; creation of more government jobs and regular recruitment; raising national minimum wages to Rs.26000/- per month; strengthening of rural employment schemes like MGNREGA and introducing the similar programmes in Urban areas; loan waiver for farmers etc.
Addressing a press conference at Srinagar, Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami, State President, J&K CITU opposed the move of the administration to cancel the peaceful protest scheduled to be held at Srinagar stating that this move is highly undemocratic.
