The executive members of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) and Medical Employees Federation (MEF) today in a meeting at Srinagar expressed grave concern over deteriorating condition of government medical college (GMC) Srinagar and Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).
In a joint statement DAK, EJAC and MEF demanded immediate removal of re-employed Principal GMC Dr Rafiq Pampori and Director SKIMS Dr Showkat Zargar as these officials are responsible for worsening situation in these premier institutions.
These institutions which were once known for high standards are crumbling and patient care, teaching and research are at its lowest ebb.
The tall claims of government to remove re-employed and tainted officials and replace them with honest and competent persons have fallen flat as it continues with deadwood on highest positions of critical institutions.
President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan while addressing the meeting said that re-employment of principal GMC has led to marked stagnation and blocked opportunities of aspirants to deserved higher positions.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He is backed by certain forces behind the curtain that are helping him to continue to hold his position despite recent government order of termination of re-employment.
President EJAC Abdul Qyoom Wani said that despite involvement of Director SKIMS in financial irregularities, corruption and nepotism he continues with his position which is highly objectionable.
He was terminated from his services for his unauthorized absence from duties but managed his re-entry through back-door and got unusual benefits and was appointed as Director SKIMS ignoring other 12 candidates who had much superior credentials and merit.
President MEF Shabir Ahmad Langoo said that if government is serious to revive the premier health institutions and restore their lost glory it should immediately remove these favourite officials and replace them with deserving persons.
