Srinagar, Jan 31 (KNS): Training programme organized by Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj for six blocks of Kupwara which include Mawer, Langate, Qaziabad, Rajwar, Ramhal and Magam at Environment Hall Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara District concluded on Thursday.
While addressing the participants Block Development Officer (BDO) Qalamabad, Abdul Majeed stressed on the importance of principles and frequent functioning of Panchayats in the rural areas.
He also said that the Government Institutions in general and the Panchayati Raj Institutions in particular have assumed greater significance under the recent development philosophy where in democratic decentralization has emerged as a catchword.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Other Block Development Officers added that such training programmes would go a long way in building responsibilities of the elected representatives and help them to play their roles and obligations and enable them to discharge their duties more efficiently.
Officers asked the Sarpanchs and Panchs to spread social awareness on different schemes and various other state and centrally sponsored schemes, while highlighting various issues about the role of local governance in the development of villages and Communities.
