Ravees, Coach Pencak Silat Central Sports team to represent India at Malaysia World Championship 2022

 
Srinagar, July 24 (KNS): J&K Sports Council in collaboration with Indian Pencak Silat Federation under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sports Authority of India has been selected in Indian contingent to represent India in 19th World Pencak Silat Championship 2022,  Melaka Malaysia  scheduled to be held from July 26-31. 

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), 36 probables from 14 different States and UTs  including Ravees Ahmad, who is the coach for J&K Police central team in Pencak Silat was selected in the 21 days undergoing kntensive coaching at Indoor Sports hall Polo Ground Srinagar and as well as selected in the world Championship.

It reads that the coaching camp was started  from July 01c which culminated on July 23. “Coaches from J&K, Haryana & Delhi are rigorously imparting training to the athletes (Male & Female) to achieve desired results in the forthcoming world championship. The trainees from different states and UTs are stationed at Srinagar and their boarding and lodging are being jointly borne by the J&K sports Council & Indian Pencak Silat Federation.”

It reads that this is the first time when National coaching camp for Indian Team is being organized at Srinagar in Pencak Silat discipline.

“The Ministry of Youth affairs and sports Government of India has already accorded nod for deployment of team for this prestigious Senior world championship.”

It added that J&K Pencak Silat athletes had already brought laurels by winning medals in various National & International Pencak Silat championships and is leading in medal tally in the country.

It reads that this is the first occasion that any Indian team is being departed for International competition from Srinagar.

“Lt. Governor of J&K, Secretary Home department, Director General of police, Additional Director of Police APHQ, Divisional commissioner Kashmir, Secretary Sports Council, Sports officer APHQ J&K & other officers & officials of J&K Police & Indian Pencak Silat federation wished Ravees Ahmad & other team members for the best results at the world arena,” it reads.
