Raqeeq Ahmed Khan appeals Govt to make Mughal Road as all weather

  

MENDHAR, APRIL 10:(KNS)  Apni Party State Youth Wing Vice President Raqeeq Ahmed Khan has appealed to the Govt to make the historic Mughal Road all weather road which would be helpful to boost the local economy as well as generate employment opportunities.
In a statement to the press, Khan said that Mughal road remains closed for six months or more due to landslides and during bad weather conditions causing great inconvenience to the people in Pirpanjal who used to work in different parts of the valley and are involved in trade with the people in Kashmir.
He said that the people from Pir Panjal prefer medical treatment in Srinagar hospitals which are close to them in comparison to Jammu which is far away with regard to the distance and hence, the Govt must take into account the suffering and facilities both into the account.
He said that the authorities responsible to keep the highway open for the free movement of vehicular traffic should ensure that the road remains clear and machinery on stand-by to keep it operational all the months.
 
“Whenever the Mughal road is closed, the people have to travel to Jammu and then to Srinagar for various purposes like jobs, education, health and trade related activities,” he said.
 
He said that the students who pursue their higher studies in the colleges and universities of Kashmir suffer the most when the highway closes and hence, it becomes the responsibility of the Govt to keep it functional in all the months for the future of the students so that they continue their studies without difficulties.(KNS)
