Mendhar, Nov 27 (KNS): A day after unveiling and laying foundation stones of developmental projects worth ? 80 crore in Mankote Block, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, today convened a comprehensive review meeting at Mendhar to assess the implementation roadmap and progress of ongoing works across the Division.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, PWD, PMGSY, REW and PDD, the Deputy Chief Education Officer, and the Block Development Officers Mendhar, Balakote and Mankote who briefed the Minister on the status of various projects initiated under their respective departments.
While chairing the meeting, the Minister emphasized that the large-scale developmental push initiated marks a turning point for the border region, and it is now imperative that all departments work in close coordination to ensure time-bound, transparent and quality-oriented execution of the sanctioned works.
He underscored that projects related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, education infrastructure, public utilities and sports facilities carry immense importance for the socio-economic advancement of the people living in the remote and border belts of Mendhar subdivision. Any delays, he said, would directly impact public welfare.
Rana directed the officers to promptly identify and address bottlenecks, streamline tendering and administrative processes and maintain regular field supervision so that works progress efficiently on the ground.
He also called for periodic joint reviews between departments to tackle interlinked issues, especially those concerning land clearance, electricity shifting, water pipelines and road alignments.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
To ensure accountability, the Minister instructed officers to establish a strengthened monitoring mechanism involving weekly progress reports, on-site inspections and adherence to technical standards. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to maintaining the highest levels of transparency and quality in public works.
Rana reaffirmed that the developmental roadmap rolled out for Mendhar is part of a broader vision of the Government led by Omar Abdullah, aimed at transforming underserved and geographically challenging regions into vibrant and self-sustaining zones of growth.
He added that the projects inaugurated and launched earlier represent only the first phase, and further interventions would follow in a systematic manner to ensure that each village receives equitable attention in terms of infrastructure, services and opportunities.
Appreciating the dedication of field officers, the Minister urged them to remain accessible to the public and respond promptly to local needs and grievances. He stated that the success of any developmental intervention lies in its ability to positively impact people’s lives, and therefore citizen feedback must be integrated into ongoing planning and execution processes.
The Minister directed all departments to accelerate the pace of ongoing works, maintain seamless coordination and ensure that the momentum generated over the past weeks is carried forward with renewed resolve.(KNS)
