JAMMU MAY 17 (KNS): Launching ‘TEEKA LAGAO, CORONA BHAGAO’ campaign across Jammu Division, National Conference Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana today exhorted the cadre to facilitate registration of eligible segments of the people for vaccination, especially in view of the pandemic spreading in rural landscape.

“As many among us in the rural and far off places are not tech-savvy or lack the facilities of smartphones with dedicated internet facilities, they are to be assisted in getting registered on Cowin App for jabs at the earliest available slots”, Mr Rana said in an exclusive interaction on virtual mode with the National Conference Chairpersons and Members of the District Development Councils this evening.

DDC Chairpersons Rajouri, Ramban and Kishtwar, Ch Naseem Liaqat, Dr Shamshad Shan and Pooja Thakur respectively, former ministers and DDC Members Abdul Gani Malik and Jagjeevan Lal, Vice-Chairperson Ramban Rabia Beig, former IAS Officer and Member B A Runiyal and DDC Members Anita Thakur, Reyaz Ahmed,   Gulshan Parveen, Jagbir Dass, Shamim Akthar, Mohd Shafi, Fayaz Naik, Sakhi Mohammad, Shamim, Advocate Syed Asim Hashmi, Rubina Begum Bhat, Zakir Hussain, Faisal Hussain, Tahir Masood, Abdul Razak, Shamim Begum and Suryia Begum participated in the virtual interaction.

Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary also joined the conference.

Asserting that ‘TEEKA LAGAO, CORONA BHAGAO’ should be the motivating force for volunteers while reaching out to the targeted people through whatever mode of communication, Mr Rana hoped that each worker and office bearer would seek registration of at least 50 persons in their areas. The mobilization has to be in a missionary spirit without cast, creed, religion on party affiliation, as this is service to humanity. He hoped that while reaching out to the eligible persons, the cadre will strictly adhere to restrictions imposed by the government and SoPs prescribed for maintaining social distance and remain masked.

“We are amid most challenging times and can win over the deadliest pandemic by adopting a collective approach and fighting the virus by inoculation that is the only solution to remain safe from the infection”, Mr Rana said and hoped that the administration will make all-out efforts to procure vaccines for coverage of all categories in all the areas. This is the time when each one should cooperate with the government and lend a helping hand to the frontline warriors who are engaged in saving lives by risking their own lives, he added.

The Provincial President said that alongside motivating and facilitating the people in registration, the cadre will also launch an awareness campaign about do’s and don’ts by observing to COVID appropriate behaviour.

Any complacency or laxity will cost lives and therefore the imperative of observing the guidelines has to be reinforced by the public representatives. He also cautioned the councillors and chairpersons to avoid visiting the health institutions as this could hamper the working of the frontline warriors and instead of lending a helping hand to the needy families grappling with the virus in terms of moral and material support.

“Photo ops and media attention should not be a temptation for those having the urge to really help the victims”, Mr Rana said, expecting that such tendencies should be shunned. The enormity of the situation demands a high degree of motivation for providing respite in whatever humble way one can to ease the lives of families undergoing the agonies of the virus. He expressed solidarity with those who have lost their dear ones due to coronavirus.

Mr Rana also saluted the frontline warriors in hospitals, on roads and active in arranging supplies besides police and security personnel for their heroic contribution in steering out the people from this difficult phase. Their huge role is leaving an indelible mark on the public psyche and this spirit will get further substantiated by ensuring the best possible assistance to patients, he maintained.KNS()
