Srinagar, Mar 18 (KNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and J&K spokesperson Altaf Thakur on Wednesday condemned in the strongest possible terms the massacre of civilians in Afghanistan during the holy month of Ramadan, holding Pakistan’s state-sponsored terror apparatus responsible for what he termed a crime against humanity.
Expressing profound shock and anguish over the attack that reportedly claimed around 400 innocent lives, Thakur asserted that the sheer scale and brutality of the violence expose the true face of cross-border terrorism nurtured by Pakistan.
"This heinous act has shaken the conscience of humanity. Targeting innocent civilians in the holy month of Ramadan is not only barbaric but also a direct assault on the principles of Islam, which preach peace, tolerance, and coexistence," Thakur said in a strongly worded statement.
He emphasized that carrying out such a strike during Ramadan—a period devoted to peace, prayer, and compassion—reflects an utter disregard for both human values and religious sanctity. "This attack during Ramadan is an assault on humanity and faith. No cause or ideology can justify the killing of innocent people, especially during a period considered sacred by millions across the globe," he added.

Thakur asserted that this tragedy once again underlines the persistent and grave threat posed by terror networks operating from Pakistan's soil. "The magnitude of this tragedy, with hundreds of innocent lives lost, highlights the urgent need to expose and isolate those who continue to sponsor and shelter terrorism. The world must recognize and act decisively against such forces," he remarked, implicitly pointing towards Pakistan's history of using non-state actors as instruments of state policy.
Extending his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured, Thakur called for a unified and concrete global response. He urged the international community to rise above political considerations and take decisive steps to dismantle the entire terror infrastructure in the region.
"Silence in the face of such atrocities only emboldens perpetrators. There must be zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms," Thakur stated, reaffirming India's unwavering stand against terrorism. He concluded by asserting that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through collective efforts to eliminate terror and uphold the values of humanity. (KNS)
