The tragedy has left the family shattered. Heartbreakingly, last year Nazakat’s cousin also lost his life in a road accident at Zojila Pass, said one of his family members.

“This family has been struck by unbearable grief twice. First, they buried one young son; now they must lay another to rest,” he said with tears in his eyes.

The incident has left the community shaken, with many calling for strict enforcement of the swimming ban in the dangerous water bodies to prevent such tragedies.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident. (KNS)
