Srinagar, June 06 (KNS): The incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday termed the Indian home minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks about Kashmir as “misleading” and “ridiculous”. He also suggested him to revisit the history.
Rajnath Singh recently said, “Kashmir as a whole has never been an issue, it is Pakistani Kashmir which needs to be addressed soon.”
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said when India was under British colonial rule; Jammu Kashmir was present on the world map as an independent state. “Even when Pakistan and India emerged as two nations on August 14 and 15, 1947, Kashmir was still an independent state but unfortunately India, under a deep-rooted conspiracy, launched a military expedition on this territory,” he said.
Shah said as far as the accession to India is concerned; numerous questions have been raised over the validity and authenticity of the so-called ‘Instrument of Accession’. “Rajnath Singh must go through the speeches of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru about Kashmir particularly his historic address at Lal Chowk in presence of Late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah where he promised that the people of this state will be given the right to decide their future,” he said.
The pro-freedom leader said Rajnath Singh’s statement makes it clear that he is bereft of any historical knowledge regarding Kashmir issue.
Reacting against the Indian home minister’s remarks about Azad Kashmir, Shah said, “When we talk of the implementation of the UN resolutions on Jammu Kashmir, we mean the pre-1947 position of the state.
Commenting on the so-called elections scheduled to be held in the Islamabad district of south Kashmir, Shah said many intellectuals in India have already expressed their opinions that these elections have no legal or constitutional validity as these polls are held under the shadow of gun.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah while condemning the state-wide arrest spree termed it the “frustration “of the ruling class. He said while Mehbooba Mufti was in opposition, she staged enough dramas against the then government’s curbs on the freedom of speech and expression but after receiving the chair (of power) in charity from New Delhi surpassed the records of her predecessors.
Strongly condemning the re-arrest of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shah said PDP’s has been exposed before people.
Shah also condemned the continuous house detention of Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, and dozens of other leaders and activists, saying, “The Mufti-led government’s crackdown on the resistance camp proved that the party has accepted defeat and its slogans like ‘No Bullets but Talks’ have proven hollow”.
Meanwhile, the veteran Kashmiri resistance leader Shabir Ahmad Shah has paid tributes to the boxing legend Muhammad Ali who passed away on June 3 (Friday). Shah said the deceased’s famous quote ‘Allah is the greatest. I’m just the greatest boxer’ has inspired millions like me.
Shah expressed grief over the boxing star’s demise and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. “After reverting to Islam, Muhammad Ali showed extreme steadfastness. He was not only a boxing champion but the whole world has acknowledged his services to Islam,” he said.
“This boxing legend lost all his awards and honours for not participating in the Veitnam war. This way, he didn’t bow down before the American state’s dictations,” Shah said. (KNS)
