Rajnath’s remarks ‘intimidating’: Shah

‘Pakistan stakeholder to dispute, India’s claims contrary to UN resolutions’

Srinagar, July 25 (KNS): Terming the statement of Indian home minister Rajnath Singh as “hollow” and “meaningless”, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday said Kashmir issue is a “living reality” and to associate it with the issues like law and order or unemployment is nothing but “self-deception”.
In a statement issued to KNS, Shah termed Rajnath’s remarks as “intimidating” saying that to ask the nation that has rendered sacrifice of more than 5 lakh lives to surrender is “foolishness”.
Reacting against Singh’s assertion that no third-party intervention would be acceptable, Shah said Pakistan is the stakeholder of the dispute and talks between India and Pakistan on Kashmir have taken place more than 100 times and the issue is acknowledged by 18 UN resolutions.
“The efforts India is making to legalise its illegal occupation of Jammu Kashmir are contrary to the UN resolutions acknowledged by the international community. Now, refusing to accept Kashmir as a dispute would only be termed as stubbornness,” he said.
The pro-freedom leader said Indian home minister must shun “obstinacy” and bear in mind that Kashmir is not like other Indian states and has never been a part of this country.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“This fact is vehemently supported by thousands of Indian intellectuals like Gautam Navlakha, Arundhati Roy,” he said.
He also termed Singh’s remarks over the killing of 58 civilians as “misleading” saying the current unrest is not any law and order issue but a movement of freedom from Indian illegal occupation. “Even the statement of Indian minister regarding the treatment of the injured people is an eye-wash,” he said.
Shah hailed the traders federation of the state for taking the responsibility of treatment of the injured saying the move is “praiseworthy” and an act of “extreme generosity”. “The well-to-do families must follow the suit,” he said.
The DFP chairman accused the pro-India politicians of converting the ‘Paradise on Earth’ Kashmir into a hell saying the New Delhi’s “collaborators” inflicted huge damage on the freedom movement of Kashmiris.
In his message to people, Shabir Ahmad Shah said: “We are struggling for the freedom of our nation and the need of the hour is to exhibit steadfastness besides we must take utmost care of each other.”
Shah also condemned the arrests of political leaders and youth during the anti-India uprising. (KNS)
