Jammu, December 24 (KNS) : The Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign was successfully conducted at Jammu Railway Station from December 21 to December 23, concluding effectively on December 23. The campaign was organized by the Railways in collaboration with the Family Welfare Department under the National Pulse Polio Immunization Programme.
During the campaign, all targeted children in the 0–5 years age group were administered the “two drops of life” polio vaccine. Dedicated polio booths were set up at the entrances and platforms of Jammu Railway Station to ensure maximum coverage.
Special efforts were made to ensure that no child travelling with families missed immunization, with vaccination teams also covering children onboard trains passing through the station. As part of the campaign, more than 713 children were administered the polio vaccine at Jammu Railway Station.
Commenting on the successful campaign, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, said that the railway administration provided all possible assistance to health workers and volunteers. He added that regular announcements were made at the station and informative banners were displayed to create awareness among passengers.
Singhal further stated that the Railways successfully achieved the target for the immunization drive, reflecting the organization’s strong commitment to keeping India polio-free.
The successful execution of the campaign highlights the effective coordination between the Railways and the health department in safeguarding children’s health and strengthening public health initiatives.(KNS)
