Srinagar, Aug 10(KNS): Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday demanded restoration of J&K's statehood and the conduct of a "free and fair" Assembly election and stated that his party will continue to fight against Prime Minister's "ideology that divides India. . 

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS),correspondent while addressing party workers in Srinagar - where he opened a new office for the party, Rahul Gandhi said: "We demand the restoration of full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir and free and fair elections here".

The Congress leader said that his fight is against none other than the Prime Minister only. "I fight against Narendra Modi and we will continue to fight against his divisive ideology, the ideology that divides India.

 "We are not allowed to speak in Parliament on issues like farm bills, Pegasus (snooping controversy), corruption, Rafale (deal), and unemployment," he said, adding that he want a relationship of dignity and love with people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have faced pain and suffering before Delhi, my family was living in Allahabad. Before that they were living in Kashmir. 

Gandhi also alleged that the media in the country is being suppressed and not allowed to do its job. "They (media) always have a fear when they report as their job is at stake," he said. 

Earlier today, the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the Kheer Bhawani temple in Ganderbal following which he also visited the famous Hazratbal Dargah in Srinagar.(KNS).
