Anantnag, Jan 08 (KNS): The Chairman of Ummat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir and Mirwaiz South Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed Yasir, today paid glowing tributes to Sajjad Kanue on his 21st martyrdom anniversary and also offered Fateh Khawani for his departed soul, joined by other pro-freedom parties.
In a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said that Kanue was a great student activist and a pioneer of unity among many militant groups. "He was a great patriot who lived upto the promises of being a great Freedom Fighter. He had a close association with Shaheed Dr. Qazi Nissar and had earned respect from the resistance camp at huge level. Mirwaiz while remembering the martyrs of 2016 also said, "The civilian killings have yet again stamped the fact that Kashmiris have never bowed down to the military might or any authoritarian rule. The government used immense power to kill the dissent and construct an image of peace."
He also demanded the immediate release of all political prisoners including Azaad Waqar, Bhat Raouf, Sarjan Barkati, Sajjad Hashmi, Ayaz Akbar, Noor Mohammed Kalwal and others.
Besides common people, the members of Democratic Freedom Party, JKLF, People's League, Tehreek e Mazahmat and Mahaz-e-Azadi also participated in the Fateh Khwani led by Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir. (KNS)
