‘Govt seems reluctant to have meaningful dialogue’

Srinagar, Nov 11 (KNS): Chairman of Ummat e Islami Jammu Kashmir, Mirwaiz Qazi Ahmed Yasir on Friday condemned the re-arrest of pro-resistance leaders and called for unity among leadership and the people to fight against occupation.
In a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said that the re-arrest of Muhammad Yasin Malik, detention of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and continuous arrest of Shabir Shah including many others in prisons for months shows that the government is not willing to have a meaningful dialogue on returning peace in Kashmir.
"These arrests are done to threaten the resistance leadership that decided to continue the ongoing protests. Despite so many losses to us representatives of every section is willing to continue the ongoing movement and stay united come what may. Resistance leaders also must not forget the contribution of Ulemas like Sarjan Barkati and Sajad Hashmi who propelled this movement to its peak," he said.
He said that the people have every right to question leaders and leaders need to lead the nation and people need to follow and that's the only way possible to attain the goal of freedom.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"The unity of people and leadership is mandatory in the fight against occupation. Fighting such a huge economy and power must not discourage us but should not be understood to be a six month Hartal battle," he said.
Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir also took strong note of the reports that Kashmiri inmates are being ill treated and harassed in jails of Jammu including Kot Balwal, Udhampur and Kathua.
"Scores of people from Kashmir, many among them are from South Kashmir are booked by the government under draconian Public Safety Act and sent to jails in Jammu. Now as per family members, these youth are being ill-treated and harassed. They have been jailed for demanding their right to self-determination which is everyone's right. If government wants to see peace in Kashmir, they should first stop the spree of arrests and release all those who have been arrested," he said. (KNS)
