Under construction school building develop cracks

Srinagar, Jan 19 (KNS): School staff and residents have raised concern on the substandard material used in under construction Government High School Budnamal Kupwara; they said that building has developed many cracks in concrete roof and walls.
Headmaster Ali Mohammad, GHS Budnamal 40 km, away from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district told KNS, that in year 2010, a new school building was allotted under RMSA scheme of worth rupees 60 lakh. Six years passed only one story has been completed so far, in which very low standard material has been used.
“It is visible that the constructed building has developed major cracks in slab (roof) and walls, because contractor used mud and low cost material in construction,” Ali Mohammad said.
He said that the slab of roof is broken, and it is exposed that low cost iron, cement and other material has been used which resulted that building during construction has damaged.
Zonal Education Officer Mumtaz Ahmad Khan said that despite they wrote many letters to the higher authorities over the serious issue but nothing happen and no action has been taken so far.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said that he himself visited the spot and found that building is badly damaged and is frail.
“We cannot run a school in such poor constructed building. Many times I requested officer to stop the construction and probe in but nothing happen,” Mumtaz Ahmad Khan said.
Khan assumes that the contractor is highly influential that is why no action has been taken in such apparent brazen act.
“I think he has political influence that is why officer are silent, otherwise this is a criminal act,” ZEO said.
Meanwhile KNS, contacted Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, GH Mohammad Dar over the issue he said that he has assumed the charge few days ago, he assured that he will constitute a team and will look in it.
“I assure you that this matter will be taken seriously and will not allow such to happen. Guilty will be punished,” DC Kupwara GH Mohammad Dar said. (KNS)
