Bandipora, Apr 25 (KNS): Forest Protection Force on Tuesday seized punt guns used by hunters to kill wetland birds near banks of Wular Lake in north Kashmir’s Bandipora.
Deputy Director, FPF Ejaz Ahmad told KNS that based on a tip off regarding the use of punt guns in Wular, anti-pouching team raided several locations in the area during which punt guns were seized, however poachers fled from spot.
Providing details, the officer said during the ongoing year, the FPF have seized 9 punt guns so far. He said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigations taken up.
He added those having punt guns in their possession must deposit the weapon before the authorities, failing which strict action as per law will be taken against the violators. (KNS)
