Pulwama, Shopian record season’s lowest temperatures amid freeze

Srinagar, Nov 25 (KNS)" A severe cold wave continued across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday as several places in the Valley recorded sub-zero night temperatures, with Pulwama and Shopian emerging as the coldest inhabited locations.

According to data compiled by Kashmir Weather, Pulwama recorded a minimum temperature of –5.0°C, while Shopian dropped further to –5.4°C, indicating intensifying winter conditions in south Kashmir.

Pahalgam registered –4.4°C, Gulmarg –1.2°C, Baramulla –4.3°C, and Pampore –4.5°C. Srinagar settled at –3.1°C, slightly colder than Qazigund at –3.0°C.

The higher reaches experienced harsher conditions, with Zojila Pass plunging to –16.0°C, one of the lowest readings of the season.

In north Kashmir, Kupwara recorded –3.4°C, Bandipora –3.8°C, and Rafiabad –4.1°C. Kokernag remained comparatively milder at –0.4°C, while Sonamarg stood at –3.8°C.

The Jammu region also witnessed a dip in temperatures. Jammu city recorded 9.8°C, while Banihal reported –0.5°C. Bhaderwah remained cold at 0.4°C, Rajouri at 2.4°C, and Udhampur at 6.2°C.

In Ladakh, Leh touched –8.5°C, Kargil –8.8°C, and Nubra –6.6°C, reflecting persistent freezing conditions across the region.(KNS).
