Srinagar, May 24 (KNS): Calling for a comprehensive compensation for the farmers and orchardists of Kulgam who suffered extensive damages due to yesterday’s hailstorm, CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has urged the state government to go for immediate assessment of damages to fruit crops, paddy saplings and disburse financial relief to the affected families.
In a statement issued to KNS, Tarigami said the hailstorm caused massive damage in villages Katrasoo, Shalipora, Srandu, Bogund, Ganosargam, Khandipora etc in Kulgam District of South Kashmir where the fruit crops and paddy saplings have been hit the worst.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelMere assurances and surveys cannot satiate the interests of the affectees, he maintained and urged the government for initiating practical measures to provide timely relief to the affected orchardists and farmers.
Expressing grief over the massive damages caused to fruits and paddy saplings, the CPI (M) leader urged the authorities to depute teams of experts to assess the losses in the affected area so that they are compensated forthwith. (KNS)
