Srinagar, Dec 09 (KNS): A proposal mooted by the government for equal promotion opportunities to KPS cadre officers to bring them at par with IPS cadre officer triggered a controversy during a cabinet meeting in Jammu and finally Chief Minister left the cabinet meet in anger after other decisions were approved.
Sources told KNS that Chief Secretary B R Sharma on the instructions of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti put up a proposal seeking equal opportunities for KPS cadre officers to bring them at par with IPS officers as the KPS cadre officers retire at the most as SSPs even after putting in 25-30 years of service. However Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh opposed the proposal with the contention that the state government should seek an approval from the central government on this issue.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti countered with the argument that though central government has to be consulted on some issues but the state government has not to seek central government’s approval on every issue.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, according to sources, vehemently told the BJP minister that this issue does not require the consent of the central government. The sources said that after the BJP minister opposed to the proposal the Chief Minister left the meeting in anger but the entire cabinet met her at her residence later in the evening. The proposal if approved would bring KPS cadre officers with their IPS counterparts in promotion to higher ranks. (KNS)
