Srinagar, May 5 (KNS): Police on Tuesday attached immovable assets worth approximately ?1.20 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Srinagar as part of the ongoing 'Nasha Mukt J&K' (Drug-free Jammu and Kashmir) campaign.
The action was taken under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by the Nowhatta police station in connection with a case registered under FIR No. 61/2019, an official spokesperson said.
The attached assets include a three-storey residential house, a separate single-storey kitchen block with three washrooms, and land measuring nine marlas, the spokesperson added.
Police investigations revealed that the property was acquired through the proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Following due legal process, the assets were identified as illegally acquired and attached accordingly.
The development is part of the 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug networks and urged citizens to share information related to drug abuse or trafficking. (KNS)
