Banihal October 12 (KNS): Prominent socio-political activist and DDC contested Candidate Khari, Mrs Hafeeza Bano along with another women activist Gulshan Begum joined National Conference in Banihal today and were welcomed by the Party District President Ramban Mir Sajjad Shaheen besides block president Banihal Haji Abdul Ahad Shan, Sarpanch Mohd Rafiq Khan, Office secretary Abdul Gani Wani and Vice block president Abdul Rashid Shiekh. Mrs Hafeeza Bano fought DDC elections as an independent candidate from Khari-A DDC constituency last year.
Speaking at the occasion Party District president Mr Shaheen said that the
"National Conference will give due honour to each worker". He further said that women have a larger role to play in politics and NC has long ago recognised women’s voices and involved them in decision making at all levels.
We need more and more women’s participation in political decisions to have resultant policies more attuned to the needs of our daughters, mothers, and sisters in urban as well as rural areas,” he said adding, “It is elevating to see educated women join us in rows from different walks of life.
He urged the party workers to initiate a mass outreach programme in the district to have a firsthand account of the peoples’ problems.
Shaheen expressed hope that with the joining of the workers, the National Conference will strengthen its base at the grassroots level in the area, he said.
He asked them to serve the people and spread the programmes and policies of the National Conference at the grassroots level.(KNS)
