Srinagar, Jul 24 (KNS): Career counseling m and Placement Cell of Faculty of Forestry organized a Program on Career opportunities for Forestry students.
The Chief guest was Dr K.P Ouseph, IFS (Retd.) 1981 Batch, Ex. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Kerala and former Chief Wildlife Warden, Kerala. He is nowadays Chairman, Interview Board, Staff Selection Commission , Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The guest of honor was Mr.N. Gopindihdn IFS (Retd.) 1981 Ex. Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests , Kerala.
Professor (Dr.) T.H. Masoodi, Dean, Faculty of Forestry welcomed the guests and thanked them for taking such a long journey to reach Kashmir. Dean laid emphasis upon all to arrange these programs in future also so that students will get an exposure towards the Job opportunities in Forestry and allied sectors.
Dr. K.P.Ouseph gave a detailed account about the facing of interviews for various jobs in government as well as in Private sector. He encouraged the students to prepare yourself for the competitive examinations and demonstrated the skills how to be confident while facing the interview board.
The total duration which you spend in the interview is equal to your studies period which you spend for whole of your life span.

Dr Ouseph was very much satisfied by the hospitality and protocol shown by the Faculty especially his student Dr JA Mugloo, SFS (95-96) Coimbatore, now associate professor, Faculty of Forestry.
Gopindihdn, while giving his lecture stressed upon the students to be good managers rather than subject specific. Nowadays the jobs are less in government sector and we have to search for private jobs also.
Private Jobs are job oriented and have a specific orientation towards the human resources and other commodities .The forest managers have a good skill and they can manage the other jobs also and cited the example of Hamid Bashir, SFS (95-97) Coimbatore who was accompanying them, who has made mark in the private sector and in various reputed companies in our state . Hamid is now a successful entrepreneur.
The programe was coordinated by Dr Syed Naseem Geelani, Asstt Students welfare officer and Member Secretary of career counseling and placement cell. Professor KN Qaiser, Head Division of Silviculture and Agro forestry and Coordinator Career Counseling and Placement Cell presented vote of thanks. (KNS)
