Srinagar, June 05 (KNS): Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK), Kashmir’s biggest and oldest cultural and literary organisation Sunday made some important amendments in its constitution incorporating some important changes. AMK also elected Prof Mashal Sultanpuri as the new patron.
The decision to election Prof Sultanpuri a former President of AMK as the new patron was taken at an extraordinary meeting of its general council held at its Sopore headquarters. Mashal, a veteran poet and writer will serve for the rest of term that was left due to the demise of Prof Rasheed Nazki.
Presided over by President Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari, the meeting was called to amend the constitution of AMK that had seen amendments way back in 1998. According to new constitution adopted unanimously by the general council hence forth AMK will be called “Adbee Markaz Kamraz Jammu and Kashmir”. It will also have jurisdiction across the state for carrying out the activities vis a vis promotion and protection of Kashmiri language and literature.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHowever, the organisational structure will remained confined to Kamraz (North Kashmir) only. “Some more amendments were made and they are in tune with current trends and requirements in the field” AMK general secretary Mohammad Amin Bhat said after a four hour long meeting. The annual budget for 2016-17 presented by Secretary (Finance) Mohammad Ahsan Ahsan was alkso passed.
The meeting also took stock of the functioning of AMK and the measures to be taken for making its affiliated units vibrant and visible. It was decided to continue with the Kashmiri extension lectures in educational institutions. The meeting was informed that the annual conference of AMK would be held onAugust 27 and 28 at Bandipore and will be hosted by Literary Forum. The general council also discussed the issue of Devnagri being proposed as alternative script and full support was extended to the executive in taking all the logical steps in this direction. (KNS)
