Kashmir’s pro-freedom camp is aghast over ignoring Kashmir during the meeting of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif at Ufa in Russia, saying in unison that sidelining Kashmir would pave was for the bitter relations between the two countries.
Chairman JKLF Mohammad Yasin Malik while commenting over the outcome of the meet termed it disastrous that Kashmir has been sidelined by the two countries. “The meet has indeed disappointed the people of Kashmir. Also the international community must come forward with a constant approach for the resolution of Kashmir and not act as the fore fighting machines. It is ironic indeed that whenever there are crises on ground between the two countries, Kashmir all of a sudden comes to fore and when the situation gets pacified, the core issue is left in the backburner again,” Malik said.
Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while pitching for the inclusion of Kashmiris in the dialogue process said that Kashmir is a core issue and should be treated as one by both India and Pakistan. “If Kashmir remains unresolved, it will never resolve any other issue between the two countries.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelFor the sustained relations, Kashmir has to be resolved,” Mirwaiz told KNS.
Hurriyat Conference led by the senior separatist Syed Ali Geelani termed the Modi- Shraief meet as a diplomatic compulsion of the two countries and said that the pro- freedom camp had no expectations that anything concrete would come out of the meet for the people of Kashmir. “Only that dialogue process is bound to yield results which are aimed to the resolution of Kashmir dispute- there is no other way round. We will continue to strike for the greater cause and such incidents would not deter us in our resolve to achieve the objective,” Huriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar told KNS.
Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Shah termed the meet as a positive step. However, he was quick to add that Kashmir cause must not be thrown in the cold storage as unless Kashmir is resolved, no way forward there could be for the better Indo- Pak relations. “If Kashmir is ignored, it will neither be acceptable to Kashmir’s political leadership and nor to the militant leadership,” Shah said.
