Srinagar, Mar 12 (KNS): Post Lethpora attack the tourism in Jammu and Kashmir especially in the Valley has suffered tremendous loss, thus leaving the tourism players worried.
The tourism players in the backdrop of losses convened a meeting today at Hotel Radison here and discussed the present prevailing situation.
The stakeholders of tourism sector expected tough season ahead for them, saying that the fear engulfing the scenes is mounting with each passing day.
They said at least 15 lakh people directly and 2.1 million people are indirectly depending on tourism. "It is highly impossible to have tourists during this season and if government will not intervene we will be compelled to leave the tourism during the business and earn livelihood by some other means.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelTherefore to safeguard and provide some sort of support we request following interventions and approval by government," the meeting said.
They said they will raise several issues with the higher ups and seek rescheduling of EMI of Loans availed by Tourism sector for one year, interest subvention for tourism and allied sector, industrial metered electricity as per monthly metered usage with complete waiver of demand charges for one year, waiver of water usage charges for at least one year and there should be no annual escalation in water charges and other issues.
