Poor road condition hampers tourism potential of Drung: Mehbooba Mufti

Ready

Srinagar, Aug 30(KNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday expressed concern over the poor condition of the Tangmarg-Drung road and urged the government to undertake its immediate repair.

Mufti, who recently spent time with her mother in Drung, said the scenic destination has immense tourism potential owing to its natural beauty and the popular Drung waterfall.

Despite its attractions, the deteriorated road connecting Tangmarg with Drung has made the area difficult to access, particularly for tourists, she said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“Drung has all the potential to become a major tourist attraction and deserves its rightful place on J&K’s tourism map,” Mufti said.

She appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Commissioner Secretary of the Works Department to intervene and ensure that the road is repaired at the earliest.

Mufti said better road connectivity would improve access to Drung and help the government tap its tourism potential, benefiting both visitors and the local economy.(KNS).
