Srinagar September 28 (KNS): Handwara Police have successfully solved a blind hit-and-run case following a meticulous investigation, which led to the arrest of the accused driver and seizure of the vehicle involved.
According to reports, on September 12, 2025, a pedestrian, Ab Rehman Wani, son of Habib Ullah Wani from Gund Kuhroo, was struck by an unknown vehicle. The injured was initially taken to GMC Handwara and later referred to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police Station Handwara registered a case under FIR number 209/2025 and launched an investigation. A team led by Incharge Police Post Langate, PSI Rayees Ahmed, pursued the leads diligently, ultimately identifying and arresting the accused driver.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe vehicle involved, bearing registration number JK09C 8246, has also been seized.
Local residents of Gund Kuhroo have appreciated the police’s efforts, expressing satisfaction with the investigation. SSP Handwara also commended the police for their dedication and professionalism.
SSP Handwara emphasized that the police remain committed to taking strict action against individuals who endanger lives through reckless behavior. SDPO Handwara, briefed the media and urged citizens to follow traffic rules and report any such incidents immediately to the nearest police unit.(KNS)
