Budgam March 30 (KNS): Police in Budgam have seized illicit timber and arrested 03 accused persons involved in the commission of crime.

A police party of Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at Kanir Chadoora intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration No. DL3CAL-3727 with three persons on board. During checking, 56 Swans of illicit timber 14-Cft (Kairoo) was recovered from the said vehicle.  All the three accused persons involved in the commission of crime were arrested on the spot. They have been identified as Fayaz Ahmad Mir (driver) son of Gulam Qadir, Jehangir Fayaz Mir son of Fayaz Ahmad and Rayees Ahmad Rather son of Nazir Ahmad all residents of Kanir Chadoora. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Besides, vehicle used for commission for crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 15/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation has been taken up.

The drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold. Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime.
