Police seizes 32 bags of rice, arrests four persons in Budgam

Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday said it arrested four person and seized 32 bags of rice in central Kashmir's Budgam district. 


The police spokesman said that Police station Khag received a reliable information that the staff of Government Middle School Shunglipora Khag has misappropriated rice issued by Government meant for midday meals for children and students of the school.

"Acting on the information, Case FIR number 60/2022 under relevent sections of law was registered and investigation set into motion. During the course of investigation, 32 bags ( about 15 quantals) of misappropriated rice bags were seized from outside the school premises and some records related to the issuance of ration and its use have also been seized," they said. 

"During the course of investigation, 044 accused persons (staff members) were arrested in the instant case, they said while identifying them aa Ashraf Ali Sheikh S/o Ali Mohd Sheikh R/o Shunglipora (I/C Mid day meals) BMS Shunglipora, Ishfaq Ahmad Shah S/o Peer Gh Hassan Shah R/o Sugen Khag (Headmaster Middle School Shunglipora), Abdul Qayoom Malik S/o Sattar Malik R/o Shunglipora I/C Mid day meals Primary School Shunglipora(B) and Abdul Rashid Malik S/o Gh Qadir Malik R/o Shunglipora (I/C Mid Day Meals Primary school GilBall)," it said. 

Further investigation into the case is going on and some more arrests are also expected, the police added.(KNS)
