Police seize vehicle with poppy in Anantnag, driver arrested

Srinagar, June 04 (KNS): Anantnag police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a vehicle with poppy and have arrested a drive in Khanabal area of south kashmir’s Anantnag
A police statement issued to KNS reads, on the specific tip off Received by Duty officer khanabal police post a vehicle ( Traller) bearing regd no. PB11CJ5272 driven by driver namely " Sukhijinder Singh S/o Darbara Singh R/o House no 204,Santnagar landeke, Distt Punjab P/S Mehna was intercepted at main chowk khanabal and during checking 35 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from vehicle.
Driver was arrested under NDPS act and lodged in Khanabal police post and case stands Registered.

Duty officer khanabal police post while talking to this correspondent Said credit goes to our police Chief of District and other senior officers who always encourage us .
He said timely guidance by these officers is must for incharge officers and today's action is the result of that.

Meanwhile,Ssp Anantnag Sandeep Chowdhary (IPS) soon after the joining in district Anantnag has reteriated that those involved in drug trafficking will be dealt very seriously and action as warranted under law will be initiated against them.
He added we believe that we are here to serve public and believe in people friendly approach.
He said our youth are our future and we dont want them to fall into bad practices.
Anantnag police has geared up operations against drug trafficking in rural areas also .
Police has sought cooperation from people to curb this menace.
