Srinagar, Jan 01 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday paid their last respects to slain constable Abdul Kareem, who was killed in a militant attack Saturday evening at Chogal Handwara.
All ranks of Handwara Police gathered for the wreath-laying ceremony at DPL Handwara, including SSP Handwara Gulam Jeelani, SDPO Handwara Shabir Khan and Dy SP DAR Handwara besides ADC Handwara and Tehsildar Handwara from Civil administration.
Meanwhile thousands of people, including MLA Langate Engineer Rashid and all ranks of Handwara Police Officers/Officials also attended slain Abdul Kareem's Nimazi Janazah at Lach Mawar of Handwara Town.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The slain cop is survived by an old age mother, pregnant wife and three children including the eldest son who is nine-years old.
Earlier in the morning after the wreath laying ceremony at DPL his body was taken to his native village at Lach Mawar where MLA Langate addressed mourners and stressed that "Police men are our own blood. Nothing will achieve by killing Police men. He said this is the high time for militants to ponder that if we can achieve anything and continue this struggle by killing Police men. He appealed to UJC for stopping this bloodshed". (KNS)
