Police organises plantation drive at Armed Police Complex Manasbal

Srinagar March 31 (KNS) :  In order to preserve the ecological diversity and to stabilize the ecosystem, Police have launched a mega plantation drive in collaboration with Forest Division Ganderbal at Armed Police Complex, Manasbal under the supervision of commandant IRP 8th Battalion Sh. Mohammad Arif Rishu.


The plantation drive was launched with the aim of contributing to the Green drive of our country, fighting against global warming and contributes towards accomplishing sustainable development goals.

While speaking on the occasion, SSP Mohammad Arif Rishu quoted the words of Kashmir’s Patron Sufi Sheikh Noor-ud-din Wali, “An Poshi Teli Yeli Wan Poshi” which literally means “Food will thrive only till the woods survive” and famous environmentalist Henry David Thoreau, “What is the use of a house if you haven’t got a tolerable planet to put it on?”. SSP enunciated the importance of tree plantation for the community and that this initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness among the public about environment conservation.

Later, he thanked officers & officials of the unit for their gracious presence and informed that IRP 8th Battalion will continue to organize such activities in future as a part to their commitment towards maintaining ecological balance and conserving the environment.

Pertinently, J&K Police has always been committed towards protection and conservation of environment. Along with the regular duties of policing, J&K Police has actively played its part in curbing the ill effects of climate change. Plantation drives and awareness programs are some of the steps taken towards this cause. (KNS)
