Srinagar, August 05 (KNS): Continuing its campaign for awareness against drug abuse, Police Drug De-addiction Centre Srinagar today conducted a School Mental Health programme at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Amira Kadal, Srinagar.
Police spokesman said in a statement that more than 200 students of class 11th and 12th participated in the programme. The team of professionals included counselors, social workers, headed by Dr Shabir–ul-Rehman started the programme.
The Medical Officer Police Drug De-addiction Centre Dr. Shabir-ul-Rehman spoke on the severity of the problem of drug addiction and the treatment facilities available at Police Drug de-addiction Centre.
The Counseling Psychologist Ashraf Sultan spoke about drug addiction, abuse of drugs and how this abuse can lead to addiction.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe early signs and symptoms and psychological causes were also discussed.
The Interactive session was also held by Dr. Shaila and counselor Iram Maqbool in which many queries were raised by the students who were curious to know how an individual gets involved in drug addiction, what type of drugs are commonly abused and how can we help someone who is abusing drugs to quit.
The Social Worker Manzoor Ahmad elaborated on social factors related drug addiction. He also elaborated on treatment protocol and role of society.
The Programme was highly appreciated by the vice Principal Dr. Roshan Aara, who requested for further awareness programmes to be held at the school.
