Police organises cycle race from Pampore to Awantipora

Pulwama July 24 (KNS): As a part of ongoing country wide celebrations of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav”, Police organized a cycle race in Awantipora area of South Kashmir on Sunday. 

As per the official, the cycle race was flagged off by SSP Awantipora Mohd Yousif, which started from Gallander Bridge Pampore and culminated at Toll Plaza Awantipora. 

On the occasion, youth from different areas participated in the said competition.

During the flag off ceremony, SSP Awantipora interacted with the participants and expressed that “the event Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav has been organised to pay glorious tributes to the Martyrs/ Freedom Fighters for remembering their courage, valour and sacrifices they made for the unity and integrity of the nation as well as in protecting the life and property of the people.”

During closing ceremony, SSP Awantipora distributed Cash reward, certificates, among the first three winners of the event and participation certificate among all the participants. 

The first winner was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5000. Similarly, 2nd, 3rd positions were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 3000, Rs 2000 respectively. Moreover, consolation prize was presented to the participants who secured positions upto 10th place. 

SSP Awantipora, while interacting with the participants said that Police will organise such kinds of activities in future also, so that the youth stay away from negative activities like drugs and their energy is channelized in right direction.

He also urged the participants to take part in such events & promote cycling habits to maintain their physical and mental fitness.

At the event, SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS, SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS, DySP DAR Shri Syed Fayaz Ahmad and other officers of Awantipora police were also present on the occasion.(KNS)
