Srinagar, Mar 07 (KNS): A day after the Minister of State for Health, Asiea Naqash termed the demands of National Health Mission (NHM) employees as genuine, Police on Tuesday used water cannons and batons to disperse the NHM protesters in Srinagar.
On the seventh consecutive day of protest, the police didn’t allow the NHM employees to stage protest in Srinagar’s Press Enclave.
However, the protesters tried to re-assemble in the Pratap Park to continue their protest but the police used water cannons and lathis to disperse them.
Notably, the NHM employees are protesting from past seven days against the government for ‘failing to fulfill their demands’.
Prior to this, the protesting employees welcomed the statement made by Asiea Naqash, saying that if their demands are genuine then why government is dillydallying in fulfilling their demands. “We have approached to higher ups in the past as well during which they assured us that the genuine demands would be fulfilled but unfortunately the promises made the government proved hoax on the ground,” the employees said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that the government must fulfill their demands at earliest so that they could feel a sigh of relief. “The government has left at least 13000 employees to suffer and is not paying any heed towards our sufferings. We appeal to the government to fulfill our demands as soon as possible so that our sufferings would come to an end,” the protesting employees demanded.
The protesters had pegged their temporary tent inside the Press Enclave to press the government for their demands but on this morning, the police didn’t allow them to stage sit-in.
Meanwhile, as soon as the protesters tried to re-assemble inside the Srinagar’s Pratap Park, the police used water cannons and batons to disperse them.
However, despite the police actions, the protesters continued to protest against the government.
Meanwhile, the protesters condemned the police action, saying that they are demonstrating peacefully against the government apathy and the police officials must not have used the force against them. (KNS)
