Police foil NC youth wing’s protest against braid chopping

Srinagar, Oct 11 (KNS): Police on Wednesday foiled the protest march of National Conference (NC) youth wing leaders and detained scores of its members including Salman Sagar after they carried out a protest against the growing incidents of mysterious braid chopping in Kashmir.
Scores of NC youth wing leaders and activists led by its president, Salman Sagar marched from Nawa-e-Subh headquarters towards Polo View here to protest against the mysterious braid chopping incidents.
The NC protesters chanted slogans against the administration and demanded an immediate end to the braid chopping incidents.
Earlier on Tuesday, the NC’s Women’s wing also held a protest over the issues and demanded government to resign, saying it has failed to nab the culprits behind these incidents.
Sagar according to KNS correspondent said that the current dispensation has failed to ensure the safety and security of an individual in Kashmir. “PDP-BJP dispensation ahs failed to prevent the mysterious barrio chopping incidents and to nab the culprits behind these acts, which has left people especially womenfolk worried,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“We want the government to come out of deep slumber and find a solution to the issue of braid chopping before the situations takes an ugly turn,” he said.
“We don’t want to politicize the issue but the government should come forward and resolve the matter,” the NC’s youth wing president said.
However, as soon as the protesters reached Polo View, police swung into action and detained scores of its members including Salman Sagar.
Several braid chopping incidents were reported in Kashmir from the last four weeks. The state Police has formed Special Investigation team (SIT) to investigate the matter and to nab the culprits behind these incidents. Police have also announced a reward of Rs six lakhs for credible information about the braid chopper. (KNS)
