Terms their arrest as unfair, unjustified

Srinagar, Sep 21 (KNS): Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday vehemently condemned the arrest of its leader Mujahid Shabir Falahi of Tral and others by government forces and termed these arrests as unfair and unjustified.
In a statement issued to KNS, JeI said that police and SOG forces today detained Jama’at leader Mujahid Shabir Ahmad Falahi of Tral before noon, who was on way to home and another Jama’at associate Tajamul Islam Mir of Gulshan-Pora Tral was also arrested at Tral.
“Tajamul, an associate of Jama’at was erstwhile harassed by police and SOG at many occasions. Thus government forces have unleashed a reign of terror by arresting hundreds of youth in several parts of valley under concocted, baseless and fictitious charges,” JeI said.
“It is pertinent that police earlier along with SOG forces raided the house of Mujahid Shabir Falahi at Kamla Tral on the intervening night of 19 -20 August, wherein forces fired bullets and pellets indiscriminately on his 85 year old father and mother resulting in severe injuries of the duo.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHis father Abdul Qayoom Bhat (Rukn-e-Jama’at) who was fired hundreds of pellets on his chest and abdomen by SOG, was hospitalized for several days at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar while his mother who were injured due to bullet which hit her arm, was discharged after a day at local health centre at Tral”, statement said.
Jama’at said, “Police also arrested Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Chisti (Rukn-e-Jama’at) of Charsoo, Awantipora yesterday who has been booked under frivolous charges. Chisti was later slapped by PSA and shifted to Kathua jail which is a blatant violation of human rights.
Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir strongly denounces the arrest of its members and others who have been booked under false and bogus charges. Moreover Jama’at urges international bodies to take instant measures for the safety of Kashmiris who are surviving in tough and harsh atmosphere made by New-Delhi, statement said. (KNS)
