Police detain Geelani, Mirwaiz to thwart Anantnag Chalo’ march

"India will have to accept our demand for right to self determination one day"

Srinagar, July 25 (KNS): Police today arrested Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani at Airport road Hyderpora when he tried to defy his house arrest to proceed towards the Islamabad and was detained in Humhama police station. While terming the government actions as the state hooliganism, Hurriyat (G) condemned the detention of Syed Ali Geelani in strong words and said that the state of Jammu & Kashmir is a police state having no respect for the democratic and moral values. Hurriyat conference also condemned the arrest of Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Umar Farooq who too was arrested outside his residence and was detained at police station Nageen.
Before his arrest, Syed Ali Geelani while addressing the media persons present there said that we (the pro-freedom leadership) had today called a public gathering at Lalchowk Islamabad to express our solidarity with the people of the area particularly the families of the youths who were brutally killed by the Indian forces during past few days but the state administration with the help of the police forces didn’t allow us to reach the Islamabad. While terming the actions of the state administration and the police as undemocratic, illegal and immoral, Syed Ali Geelani condemned it in strong words. The pro-freedom leader on the occasion said that the Kashmiri nation particularly the Kashmiri youths have resolved that their first and prime priority will be the mission of freedom from Indian occupation and no other need or necessity will come to our way.
Syed Ali Geelani said our nation will not surrender before the Indian atrocities and one day they will have to accept our demand for right to self determination.
Syed Ali Geelani on the occasion paid glowing tributes to all the Martyrs of Kashmir and said that we will continue to pursue the sacred cause of these martyrs till we witness the dawn of freedom. Hardships and sufferings are the essential and unavoidable part of the struggle and we should face these difficulties with utter patience and courage.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
While lashing out at the police and the state administration for disturbing the situations by using excessive and unnecessary force against the common people and the pro-freedom leadership, the Hurriyat (G) Chairman said that our programs are always 100% peaceful and disciplined but the police and the other Indian forces deliberately create trouble and then blame the pro-freedom people for that. While citing the example of the mass public gatherings of 2008, Syed Ali Geelani said that the police at that time acted as neutral agency and didn’t use force against the people which resulted in peaceful mega public rallies. I was released for few days in 2013 by the Omer Abdullah government and I addressed about 6 huge peaceful public meetings in the different parts of the Valley and there was no use of force by the police and hence no retaliation or the reaction was reported by the people and the youths. But the police today are deliberately inciting trouble by using brutal and unnecessary force against the peaceful protest demonstrations which result in the bloodshed of the Kashmiri youths.
Syed Ali Geelani also made a humble appeal to the government employees to cooperate in the freedom struggle of their nation and don’t play in the hands of the pro-Indian politicians. He said that the freedom movement of Kashmir is not for any particular section of the society, any particular religion, for any particular party or for any individual but it is the movement of the people of entire Jammu & Kashmir and every part of this state has sacrificed for this sacred movement. So it is the duty of every citizen of the state to help and cooperate in making this freedom struggle a success and play his role in this regard. The government employees are the vital part of the Kashmir society and their contribution is must in this struggle. (KNS)
