Srinagar, Aug 25 (KNS): While the most of the separatist leaders continued to remain either under house or are languishing in different jails in Kashmir, police on Wednesday evening detained a senior Hurriyat leader from his residential house and was taken into preventive custody.
According to a Hurriyat leader, police party headed by SHO charar-e-Shareef, Waseem Shah detained a senior Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Muhammad Hubi from his residential house at around 11:00 pm.
He said that earlier the people staged candle light protest in the area against the civilian killings in Kashmir, adding that the protesters after staging protest dispersed peacefully.
“Later, at around 11:30 pm, police party headed by concerned SHO entered into the house of Hubi and detained him,” he said.
He said that police lodged him in police station Charar-e-shareef.
Pertinently, the pro-freedom leaders including urriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, Hurriyat(M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior Hurriyat leader, Ag Syed Hassan and Hurriyat (M) spokesman, Shahid-ul-Islam and others continued to remain under house detention from past more than a month while several other pro-freedom leaders including JKLF chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik, others and activists are languishing in different jails in the Valley.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Notably, Geelani, Mirwaiz and Aga Syed Hassan defied the restrictions several times to lead a protest march against their civilian killings in Kashmir.
However, police stopped them outside their residential houses and lodged them in police custody for hours.
Pertinently, at least 69 people were killed while thousands of people were maimed by the forces during the protests in Kashmir.
The protests started a day after the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani who was killed in a ‘gunfight’ in Bumdoora village of Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on July 8. (KNS)
